Herbalife24 FIT DVD Review Phase 2 Strength weeks 9 to 11

Phase 2-Strength-Disc 1 Spine and Pelvis Strength-my review day 1

I watched the introduction video presented by Bob Forster, Physical Therapist, Performance Specialist and Developer of Herbalife24 FIT.  Bob said in Phase 2 strength we were going to concentrate on the load bearing muscles in the back of our bodies starting with resistance training with rubber tubing and then we would slowly add in more weights. We would be incorporating exercises to increase balance and complex diagonal moves to challenge the body further.  So this phase is all about building our physiques whilst speeding up our metabolisms.  As we get stonger with Phase 2, we will improve our muscle mass and our metabolisms will become more efficient and burn calories ALL day.  Sounds good to me !

Next onto the training part of the disc – Tom Holland the elite endurance athlete and physiologist took us through the stretching exercises explaining that we were going to add more resistance to make the exercises more challenging. Really good stretches !

For the actual exercises you can use ankle weights and dumbbells I didn’t use ankle weights but carried on using dumbbells. But you can do these exercise with no weights if you wish.

We started with the dead bug, which was working the core on the diagonal, then partial sit-ups with rotation, which had us sitting up and moving from side to side and then back to the middle. This exercise was good for the abdominals.

Next came the exercise that I really liked and is good for coordination as well as strength.  On all fours we worked opposite arms and legs. Arms with dumbbells and legs doing a hamstring curl, so working on the shoulder girdle and the hamstrings. I found this quite hard work but enjoyable.

We did what Tom called a bridge with single knee extension, found this easy, then the last exercises were using resistant bands – working our hips in 4 different ways, inside, outside, front to back. When using the resistant bands make sure you attach to something stable.

Good exercise routine, enjoyed doing something different, but that’s what it’s all about, changing the routine every 8 weeks, building on stability, strength and then power.

Nutrition – I am using Formula 1 Sport which is an easily digestible and a nutritious pre -workout meal and Hydrate the low calorie electrolyte drink I’m taking during the workout. I will be taking recovery drinks like Rebuild Endurance or Rebuild Strength depending on whether I am doing a strength or a metabolic workout.
